Simple Ways to Recharge
It feels like day 572 of quarantine and chances are—at least once during this uncharted time—you’ve felt mentally depleted. Whether that is a product of the news coverage, juggling work with having the kids home 24/7, missing loved ones or just wanting to leave the house without fear of sickness… we understand. We’ve put together a list of five simple ways you can recharge your batteries and get back to feeling 100% again:
RELISH IN SOME REST
Taking a 20 minute nap has been proven to boost your mood, productivity and concentration… so by all means, nap. Also, when we say take a nap, we don’t mean sit on the couch and close your eyes; we mean, really take a good nap. Turn off the lights, cozy up in a blanket and get a well-deserved midday rest. Your energy, mind and mood will thank you.
INTENTIONALLY TAKE PART IN AN ACTIVITY THAT BRINGS YOU JOY
What is something you can do right now that will fill your cup? What is something that makes you absolutely overflow with joy? Maybe it’s ordering pizza to be delivered. Maybe it’s having a cup of coffee out on your front porch. Maybe it’s a long walk by yourself. Whatever it is that brings you that immense joy, dive in and do it now.
GIVE 100% OF YOUR FOCUS TO ONE THING FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES
Unplug from your phone and the news, and choose to do an activity that takes every ounce of your concentration. Choosing to do something that you cannot multitask during will ensure you recenter your mindset as you take your mind off the things that have been getting you down. Try reading a good book, journaling out your thoughts, putting together a puzzle or flexing your creative muscle with an art project.
DECLUTTER YOUR LIFE
A cluttered life makes for a cluttered mind. If you walk into a room, and there is literally stuff everywhere it’s no wonder you can’t think straight. Tackle one project at a time. Your computer’s desktop, your bedside table, your workspace, etc. Chunk it down into attainable tasks and watch your mindset change.
MOVE A BIT!
If your body feels well-cared for, so does your mind. Go for a walk or do your favorite exercise routine and finish up with some stretching. It will take your mind off things and release feel-good endorphins.
