Make Your Workspace Work for You
A desk is a desk, right? Wrong. Where you work and what your workspace looks like is not only a reflection of you, but it can have a huge impact on your productivity. Always looking for that post-it note you know you have? Need more space to spread out your ideas? Take a look at these tips to make your workspace work for you in the new year.
- Go Wireless. Ok, obviously there are going to be wires in your office workspace, but getting them out of site will help reduce visual clutter. There are many “hacks” using binder clips to organize and hide the wires. Try one of these in your space and enjoy the pleasure of finding the cord you were looking for on the first try!
- Labels, labels and more labels. You may already have designated places or folders in your office for things, but putting a label on them may help you stick to your plan. Thinking electronically, setting up your inbox with labels and folders will help you keep important emails where they can be easily accessed in the future.
- Paperless Post-its. If you are a note scribbler, try transitioning away from paper to an electronic resource that allows you to quickly and easily access your notes from any location or device. There are multiple cloud-based resources available, such as Evernote and Google Keep, so you can find one that works the way you do.
- Hang it Up. Take advantage of wall space and hang a pegboard in your space to keep things like scissors and office supplies at your fingertips, but out of your way. Framing the pegboard with a decorative frame makes the piece fashionable and functional.
