Celebrate Mom From Afar
This year Mother’s Day celebrations may look a little different. Despite being in quarantine, there are still ways to make the one who gave you life, cared for you and shaped you into who you are as a person (no pressure) feel loved and appreciated. Check out some unique ideas that show mom you care while still maintaining social distancing measures and keeping everyone safe and healthy.
Schedule a Video Brunch
If your Mother’s Day celebration usually includes a decadent brunch, there are still avenues available to make it happen this year! Consider arranging a curbside pick-up or using a delivery service (GrubHub, DoorDash and Uber Eats are great options) to have brunch delivered to both your door and her door simultaneously. Then hop on a video call (Google Hangouts, Facetime and Zoom work well for this). Many restaurants offer e-gift cards as well that you could add to your gift. Not only does this allow you and mom to connect with each other over some delicious food, it also supports local restaurants and bakeries.
Bring the Spa to Her
While we don’t recommend including a DIY haircut in her spa day, you can most definitely help mom indulge in some much deserved relaxation that quarantine may be causing her miss out on. Do some online shopping for these spa day essentials… nail polish; a face mask; bath soak or bath bombs; lotion; and a candle. Many salons are offering curbside pick-up for products too, consider checking into buying some of the essentials and a giftcard from her favorite salon. To give things extra special touch, create a playlist just for her that she can listen to while she enjoys her at-home spa day.
The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Make her life easy all year long with an annual subscription to a grocery delivery service. Our top two picks are Instacart or Shipt. Both offer free delivery on all orders over $35 for just $99 per year. This is especially useful during COVID-19, but many people have fallen in love with the convenience of groceries dropped at their doorstep and plan to continue their memberships long after this pandemic passes. We recommend checking which stores each option services, and using that insight to choose which one would work best for her.
Socially Distance Outdoors
While many businesses remain closed during the pandemic, a few out-of-home activities are still possible. Consider adventuring out for a socially distanced stroll, picnic or round of golf. Take a walk or a hike in a nearby park or around the neighborhood. Set up two separate blankets in her backyard for a socially distanced picnic. Head to the golf course and play a round of golf together. Some fresh air will do you both some good.
Deck Out Her Front Door
If you’re planning a Mother’s Day drop-off, consider sprucing up her front door area with something like a wreath and potted plants. Not only will she be surprised to find whatever gift you are delivering, but seeing her new boost in curb appeal is sure to spark joy as well.
We hope what once seemed impossible, now seems attainable and that you are able to shower your mom with the love she deserves this Mother’s Day. As always, your Cambria Mortgage family is here to help you… now and into the future.
